'Rosa of the Wild Grass' is illustrated throughout with evocative black and white images that Fiona made while recording the accounts of Rosa and her family for the book.
"I had no plan other than to follow their lead, listening to everything they said and only occasionally asking them to explain more. But I found myself wanting to respond to what they told me in the best way I could, by painting what became a series of raw-looking black and white illustrations."
